We upgrade distribution boards, also known as fuse boxes or consumer units, for domestic and commercial clients. We frequently change domestic consumer units to the latest 18th Edition standards, fit RCBO boards, and test and replace distribution boards to keep you safe and compliant.
We also take on larger work, such as 3 phase distribution boards and temporary boards for construction site set-ups.

What is a consumer unit?
The consumer unit, or distribution board, is the heart of your electrical system. It distributes electricity to the circuits in your property and protects your home or business from electrical faults. Your board should protect the building, be marked correctly and be tested regularly.

Safety
Older consumer units may lack the safety features needed to protect against modern electrical hazards. Upgrading reduces the risk of electrical faults and fires, giving peace of mind to you, your family or your employees.

Compliance
Regulations evolve. Since 2022, in line with BS 7671, all new boards need surge protection, all new distribution boards should be metal, and every circuit must have RCD protection.

Complementing service: EICR testing
An EICR gives feedback on your entire installation: whether it meets safety standards, needs remedial work, or needs a new distribution board. We give transparent recommendations based on your property.

Isolator switch arrangements
An isolator switch lets the supply from the meter to the board be safely disconnected. Arranging one can be slow and difficult, but because we do this work so often we can usually help expedite requests.
